Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award- Top 5!

We made it into the Cream of Comedy Top 5!

Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award

"What's The Tim Sims Encouragement Fund?" you ask? The Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award is an annual award given to Toronto's "most promising new comedy act" in memory of Tim Sims who was a well-known Canadian actor and comedian. The Award is given each year as part of the Cream of Comedy showcase at The Second City, which features performances by that year's five finalists...and we made it in! Yipee!

We were fortunate to have our promo photos taken by the lovely Dan Abramovici. Here is a behind-the-scenes look at some of the Über Sexii poses we came up with!

"Work it, ladies! Work it! Okay! Sure! Ya! That's weird whatever you're doing but...okay!"

CREAM OF COMEDY will be on October 29th, 2012 on Second City Main Stage! See you there!

The Templeton Philharmonic and Campbell House Museum announce the World Premiere of SOCKDOLAGER

Sockdolager is a lightning-paced dark comedy set in the late 1920’s. As a site-specific production held in the historic Campbell House, the show immerses its audience in this exciting era of Toronto’s history. With a ferociously talented cast of nine, this stylized and engrossing tale explores the profoundly dark and the profoundly silly.

SYNOPSIS

Sheltered debutante Adeline Sweetman is throwing a dinner party at her Toronto abode in 1928. Her guests include her faux bohemian brother; her nose-bleed-prone sister-in-law; a cruel businessman; an idealistic film producer; and an oversexed trapeze artist dubbed The Bombyx Mori (Latin for “silkworm”, naturally).  Also present: a shifty-eyed valet, an overworked cook and an awkward ukulele musician. Intrigue ensues as each guest witnesses a “sockdolager”- the decisive blow that changes everything.

In this immersive theatrical production, the audience will follow the cast through Campbell House as they weave a hilarious tale about death, jealousy and the pursuit of glamour in Toronto the Good. Sockdolager features elements of commedia dell'arte and interpretive dance, executed by up-and-coming Canadian actors with proven comedic chops. The production makes use of improvisation and audience interaction, ensuring each patron will participate in a completely unique theatre experience. All tickets are redeemable for nontransferable admission to a later performance in the show's run (space permitting) - allowing audience members to explore the show once again from a different angle.

THE SITE
Campbell House Museum celebrates contemporary responses to its unique heritage setting through a program of cultural activities focusing on food, wine, art, theatre, music, history, and community. Built in 1822, Campbell House is the oldest remaining building from the original town of York. It is a classical example of Georgian architecture, a rare find in Toronto – and a perfect setting for theatre, as audiences are discovering! As a landmark steeped in history, the museum will function as an additional character in the performance of Sockdolager.

Disclaimer: Please note that the show contains some mature subject matter and is suited for patrons aged 12 and older. Parental guidance is advised.
